LOST 2017 – FAQs
What is LOST?
In a nutshell, LOST is a charity event where we drop teams of 2 or 3 off in a mystery location somewhere in the UK and give them 24 hours to get back to Cambridge. The catch? You can’t spend any of your own money – teams have to rely on the generosity of strangers to receive donations or free rides. You choose whether you use planes, trains or automobiles – previous teams have sweet-talked bus drivers, busked to raise money for train tickets, or hitchhiked their way back home. And, as with any good charity event, everyone will be wearing fancy dress.
On the way, teams have to complete as many challenges as possible, which they are given on the day and which range from making your own sandwich at Subway to blagging a ride in a helicopter. Points earned from completing challenges are vitally important for the Varsity aspect of the event. What’s that, you ask? Well…
What is Varsity LOST?
Last year, Cambridge RAG joined forces with Oxford RAG to give you the first ever Varsity LOST, where teams raced Oxford from point A to B, before heading back to Cambridge. Well, Varsity LOST is alive and kicking, with a few changes. This year, you’ll have to compete with Oxford to win the most points by:
Being the fastest back
Earning the most points from completing challenges
Raising the most money
With Oxford having won the first blue, Cambridge has a score to settle – let’s show the Other Place that we’re the better university!
When is LOST?
Varsity LOST kicks off on the morning of Saturday 4th November 2017 and you’ll have 24 hours to make it back home.
How can you get involved in LOST?
How much does it cost?
Early-Bird tickets are £15 per person, plus booking fees.
Regular tickets will cost £20 per person, plus booking fees.
Teams also pay a deposit, but this is refunded once the minimum fundraising target is reached (which is almost always the case).
How does LOST raise money for charity?
After signing up, you’ll need to get SPONSORED to get LOST. We’ll send you the details so you can create an account on https://www.everydayhero.com/uk/ and, after that, it’s up to you to convince your friends and family to sponsor you. Remember, you’re also competing against other Cambridge teams (and, of course, against Oxford) to raise the most funds!
Last year donations came in thick and fast, and the Cambridge teams alone raised upwards of £17,000 for our ten charities. This year’s charities can be found
Donations are very much welcome even after the event has finished, and sponsorship pages will remain active until Saturday 19th November.

• And, of course, the Grand Prize (takes into account time taken, amount fundraised and points earned from challenges)
